Tax Token

Hay WT,

I used to find those things now and then, but that

was 25 years ago. I have not found one in a long

time. I wonder if the ground ate them all up... Or

may be MD'ers found most of them???????????

Happy Hunting,

Tax tokens are still plentiful here, but they're usually badly corroded. I found the two MS tokens in the photo at a homesite here in town this afternoon and got an Alabama tax token there a couple of days ago.

On the M/L SOV XS ID they read where $1 gold would be!(If I remember right). About the same size too. So I know I could find a $1 gold someday. They always bring a smile to my face as I know I'm in a good spot. FYI in Alabama they called em' "Bibb's butth0le" (governer at the time) lol.

I've found hundreds of the aluminum 1 mill tax tokens but only four of the brass 5 mill ones. I can't remember hunting an old homesite that didn't give up at least two or three 1 mill tokens, and at a few as many as 10 were found. A hunting buddy and I found well over a hundred at an old football field that was used from around 1915 until the late 1950's, but only one 5 mill. Mississippi 5 mill tokens are slightly smaller than the aluminum 1 mill tokens and usually ID as zinc/bottlecap on ID meters.
