Generally speaking, when I make a major financial upgrade purchase such as an automobile, washing machine or metal detector, I think of a few questions.
1. Does the new machine accelerate my task faster than the one I have? Will it get me to my goal faster (find deep/masked coins)?
2. Does the new machine improve the milage I have with the old one(past performance, depth, dependability, discrimination, battery life)?
3. Does this new machine have even more bells-whistles- and trinkets that are complicated and I will never use?
4. Does the manufacturer state the performance of the machine is better than the previous model(s) for its application of going from point A to point B?
Personally, if there is no documented tests and/or proof in acceleration, milage or comfort, why go into debt for a few more bells-whistles- and trinkets (software) you may never use. If you don't smoke you still pay for the lighter and ash tray in a new vehicle. The power windows and cruise control does not help the fuel milage or laying rubber on the road.
Just some provocative ideas to consider before you think about spending your hard earned money for a machine that "may or may not" improve your success. HH
