Tejon revisited

Canewrap

New member
At the end of last year's relic season (April of this year) I traded out my X-terra 705 and some goodies for a new Tejon. I had a Tejon for a short time about 2 years ago and I was disappointed because of how unstable it seemed. Just took out the new Tejon detecting for the first time as practice for the new season coming up and I couldn't be happier. This one is definitely more stable, gets great depth and I'm hearing the differences in signals. I've come to the conclusion that if the machine you get is not living up to its reputation you might need to get a replacement or two and put them through their paces before you completely give up on that model. I wish I had known this when I started back into MD'ing about 3 years ago.

:cheers:Here's to hoping for a better relic hunting season this year!

I had a Tejon and found a lot with it. I sold it and have regretted it since. Just yesterday I was hunting an old site that was a crucial area during the war of 1812. I found a musket ball, but almost didn't dig it because, although the tone was smooth, it didn't register as "good" on the display. I miss the old Tejon! You do a lot of digging, but you get a lot more then just coins.

Dan is right, the Tejon is a great machine and sometimes it seems as though you dig more, but you find alot. I started with a TID machine and then went with the Tejon and loved it, as it taught me alot. I relied on the screen to much. A couple years later, I got another TID machine and use it differently than my first one due to the lessons from the Tejon. I still have the Tejon, I just have not been able to sell it because I don't want to regret it!

I've actually had three Tesoros prior to this one and I've regretted it each time I've sold one off. I've come to conclusion that digging more trash is key to finding the goodies that others have left behind. There is only a finite amount of old relics and old coins to be found, so while I'm learning the Tejon I'll be cleaning up the landscape. I've tried TID and didn't find much of value or coolness factor so I've gone back to the basics.
