Tejon 'v' Diablo Umax

Just wondering how a Tejon using the same coil as the Diablo Umax ( 10x5 DD ) would compare when nugget hunting in mid mineralised ground , would the Diablo still have the advantage ?

I've got a Tejon & was thinking of getting a Diablo as back up for a gold hunting trip .

Wow no one seems to know if the Tejon can find nuggets like the old Diablo umax , guess those who hang on to their old Diablos know something I don't then !

Hi Sven ,
I've read enough threads from various forums to know your top expertise on Tesoro's so thanks for responding .
I've tested my Tejon on various nuggets & it sure can signal a bit better then my old Whites Goldmaster , I know it was not made for nugget hunting but that's not the information I'm seeking , anyone out there have an opinion to my original question please ?

Those that hunt in the water get a water unit, relic hunt get a relic unit, coin hunt get a coin unit same goes for gold nugget hunting as if I lived in gold nugget country instead of coal nugget country would certainly buy a gold nugget unit....Imagine any Tesoro non nugget unit with a higher freq. would work if you only occasionally hunt for nuggets but certainly would not be my preference for serious gold nugget hunting...lets face it any Tesoro just likes gold in any form ought to cover it...and would buy a Tesoro gold nugget unit....

Bobby, the Tejon is a high gain unit and is not a good choice in magnetite (iron) soil. East of the Rockies it's great!

well Ive been using my Tejon exclusivly for the past 2+ years as a coin hunter here in Australia and for the last 12 mths with the 10x5DD as my prefered coil to better cope with the minerlized areas Ive been hunting , just today I took it out to a almost dry'd out creek that payed out large yeilds of alluvial nuggets up to 30oz's in the 1800's hopefully there've missed a few ..I have a very limited knowledge when it comes to prospecting, but do have more than a feel for my Tejon I have confidence that it can an will find gold if its there and within reach , I read over an over the troubles some have getting a decent GB on tuff ground , and all the negative views on the Tejon's abilty to handle such so called bad ground , ...I dont wanna get crusifed here but I aint findin it so ...prehaps the ground Im hunting is mild compared to yours I cant tellya , all I know is theres plenty a hot rocks and conditions change constantly yet the Tejon can be balanced just as good as my wifes Eldorado Umax yeah , no luck today , but I'I be back and when I do find a nugget I will post it here as in the words of tabdog the big P for persistence is alll ya need +

If your back packing in to remote areas, the last thing you need is a detector that won't balance in ground, the Diablo will handle the tough dirt-remember, the most steady threshold is what one needs to find gold and gold bearing areas

Bobby, the ground West of the Rockies is heavy with natural iron. There is mafic and ultramafic belts that runs North and South. Mafic is latin for Magnesium/Iron.
If you plop a magnet on the ground it will be covered in black sand. To top that of, there is graphitic slate all over. Graphite conducts electricity and on a MXT, the VDI registers zero on the screen. The ocean beaches here look like black pepper on the dry beach.

This is one major reason the Diablo
