Tek G2 ground balance system....

Ivan

New member
....does it automatically actually change according to conditions when you are hunting in the disc mode? Or is it a Pre set sort of auto? Anyone know?

You use the "ground grab" button. The detector keeps track of the ground as you hunt. When you press the button, it "grabs" and keeps the current reading.

The manual explains it pretty well

Here's a link to the manual

Good,luck

The manual says how to set correct ground balance...with or without "ground grab" ...... but I did not see anywhere that there is mention of the detector tracking changes..... and adjusting for the different readings., for me. It rather gives me an idea of mineral conditions. and presents them to me..................but as far as I can see it's up to me to reset the ground balance !! I don't think it tracks ground changes and adjusts it for me.

It tracks the ground continually. The current ground reading is displayed in huge numbers in all metal mode.

I didn't say anything about it adjusting the ground balance set point automatically or periodically. You must do that through ground grab or the auto gB procedure.

Changing the ground balance setting can only be done in all metal mode.

Detectors like the WHITES mXT and Tesoro Lobo Super Trac, automatically not only track the ground mineralization but adjust the ground balance automatically to compensate.

Dave Johnson, the Chief Designer of First Texas Products (Fisher and Teknetics) designed both of those "auto ground balance" systems, and being well aware of their shortcomings, designed the F19/G2 without any such circuit.

Well now you've got me interested........... what are the drawbacks of an automated system than constantly updates and adjusts itself?

if looking for black sand etc for gold its an advantage I think as it will lead you to the sand or at least let you know its getting hotter etc.. I know all the new minelabs do it for you PI machines have ground tracking not sure that's the best thing , but anyway for me in a park doesn't matter set it and go tectin

For Dave J's opinion on auto track (continuous tracking with auto update) vs. "grab" (continuous monitoring with update on user command), See pages 28-30 of this document

Thank You.........................this matter is now closed. The booklet by Dave J..................you alluded to was truly excellent....thanks for drawing my attention to it.

In my G -2 ground ballance conclusion. The G-2 with ground grab and ability to raise or lower the GB setting
While still having a current ground phase readout is tops for following black sand.
The. G-2, GB set up is almost fool proof thanks the simple design.
