Teknetics Omega Sensitivity Issue or Not . Preset GB?

Hi recently aquired a Teknetics Version 5 noticed sensentivity gets unstable "chatty" right at 48 no matter of the coil i use or what location -- is this normal ? and no matter which of the 3 frequency settings . . i was watching a Keith Southern video on the Omega on youtube about the Ground Balance works in ALL Metal / Pinpoint but does not seem to carry over to the Discriminate mode --he adjust the GB control the full range from 0 to 99 and you dont get any ground feedback in discriminate --as you do in All Metal -- KS does say the Omega may use some kind of GB "window" in the discriminate range but didnt elaborate further . Just Curious-- where i detect here in North Texas --the ground is fairly neutral - so not really an issue

I have a version 5 also, and while I can't answer all your questions, I have never experienced your situation of it becoming unstable/chatty where you describe. My method of setting the Omega up is as follows. Turn on, go to auto tune and find a clean spot, ease sen up until I hear a slight hum and hit gnd grab and pump the coil. When done g b I switch to disc. at lowest setting (I use as little disc. as possible) and turn sen. up to at least 70 and hunt. My version 5 runs very smooth in most situations and when severe emi might crop up, a frequency shift usually takes care of said situation.

I assume when you state it becomes chatty at around 48 this is out in places you plan to hunt? It really doesn't sound like a coil(s) situation. Good luck! HH jim tn

Unstable at 48 everywhere doesn't sound right to me. Sounds like it might need a trip to El Paso.
