Teknetics Warranty :help:

Well, a sad day is upon me. I need to send in my Omega for some warranty repair I think. Ugh. I just got back from relic hunting in CW land and noticed this issue about a week or 2 ago. Everytime I swing the unit, sometimes it will beep upon a target, and sometimes it won't. Maybe 1 out of 6/7/8 sweeps will it beep and register a coin, a bullet, an iron casing, anything detectable. I thought it was the 11" inch DD coil, and put back on the stock 10" coil. That didn't help. I thought it was the batteries. That didn't help. It is like it can't detect anything deeper than about 2 or 3 INCHES AWAY and when it does detect something, it has to be litterally under the bullseye dot on the 11" inch DD coil. It can't find anything "on edge" or "anywhere else on the coil" past that magic center bullseye When I used it over the weekend looking for coins, it had to literally be "swept" under the middle bullseye of the coil. :sadwalk:

It is like the processing speed has slowed down to a crawl, going from a 200 mph Ferrari powerhouse car to a Fred Flintstone "flintmobile"

Has anyone had to use the warranty by contacting First Texas? How was the procedure? What kind of turn around time am I looking at? Any suggestions? The unit is only 6 weeks old.

Thank you in advance!

Please help,
David

Call them first and you will get an authorization number, to put on the outside of the shipping carton. They can tell you everything else you need to know..

I had a problem with GBing and had to send it in (do as Dave says to do above). The procedure was a bit slow; it took about a week of emailing before getting an RA number. I waited a week after seeing that it had been delivered before calling (I had to leave a message) and emailing. I never got a response. I then waited another 2 weeks, until this morning, and called again. This time, I got through to Hector, the person in charge, and was told that it's ready to go and will be shipped this afternoon. I suppose 3-4 weeks isn't unreasonable, but I've had better, more personable, service with another company. The extra touch goes a long way with the public. Can't wait to get the Omega back!

I have dealt with them twice over the years, and both times the turn around was under two weeks.
