Temp coill cover for 14" (any) EXcelerator.. Long

I bought a roll of colored electrical tape at Lowe's yesterday and did a 1/2 overlap wind around the coil and placed long stips on the flat wide portion attached to bolt mount. In the curves- just trim close with a sharp blade. I figure it will last until a cover is available -and it's light. I used brown just to match dirt. You can get just about any color for $3.50 or so.- Enough to do it 2-3 times.
Today I used a coping saw to cut into the deep cover sent with the 5" EXcelerator- since over all it is 1.08' deep and the lip on the coil is only 0.53", I cut off about 0.53 to be safe. The cleanest cut is to cut down about to the line -follow it for about 2' and then go back to the lip. With that chunk out, just take some hefty scissors and follow the line- rub even on emery paper if you wish. This stuff is too stiff and it actually tapers a little toward the bottom so you won't get a good fit as is. I took a hand torch with the flame spreader/fan attachment and slowly and carefully rotated it until it was pretty warm (the flat base might buckle a little)and quickly grabbed the coil and forced it directly straight down into the cover. After about 3 tries I was within about an 1/8 of an inch of the lip- could not go further. Now I will have to seal it with some good non-sticky sealant which should keep dirt and water out- and help keep it attached.
I think the company should replace these covers since they don't fit well and raise the coil 1/2 " as is. <img src="/metal/html/sad.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":sad"> I hope the 14" fits like a glove!
JW-of Kellyco, are you there- what do you think??

If the one you have is the black one like mine, it is actually a White's cover that Kellyco sends with the EXcelerator. Maybe when they start making coil covers for the 12.5, 14 and 18, they can also make one for the 5 incher. Simple rule of supply and demand. You demand them and someone will supply them!!!
