Tesoro 4 inch coil depth question

Hi All,... Do any of you use the 4 inch searchcoil? What kind of depth are you getting on an air test? Mine is only getting about 2-3 inches depending on the target used

If I weren't in the middle of a move with my coils at the new place that I'm not quite in yet, I'd do a quick test to compare for you. It's been a while since I've used the 4", but as I remember I could figure 4 - 6" in the ground on most targets. What detector do you have it mounted on and how is it set?

Have it on my Royal Sabre. 3-4" with sensitivity set at 4"! The Royal is preset at a narrow notch and I have rotated the notch control knob to where I can cause the ornery "statab" to break up and the nickels to be clearly accepted! I posted this a year or two ago and now everyone's doing it with the Golden and Silver53 has an excellent video on you tube. Anywho, I move the coil somewhat slower than usual (I'm in the high trash) and sometimes hit a target at 5". Moving it too fast and I only get 2-3".BTW, you never did mention what machine you use.

 I use the 4 inch coil on my Silver Sabre uMax and my Toltec II. On both units I set the sensitivity at max and the disc at min. I think slingshot is right. I may be moving it too fast. It seems to air test just a little deeper when I move the target slower. It still seems like it is not as deep as it used to be. I have an email sent to Rusty and allcav but haven't heard back from them yet.

Well, much of the use by me was on a Silver Sabre umax and I generally got the depth that one might reasonably expect for the size. Somewhere in the 4 - 6 " range. I did find that I had to swing it slowly or I'd be well off the target before I could respond and pinpoint.I did, however, make some of my better finds with it, although some would have been found just as well using any coil.
