Tesoro Cibola :tesoro::usaflag: Off To A Bad Start But It Ended Up Pretty Good:detecting:

I thought I'd try something new today, I took two of my other brand detectors to see how they would fair against my modded Cibola at this site. I'm not going to go into any great detail about this on the Tesoro Forum, but I'll say this though, the real fun and good finds didn't start until I pulled out the Cibola. I wasted most of the morning and most of my detecting time screwing with them. Now back to the Cibola. I was working the edge of a sidewalk and got a great 'dig me' signal and popped a 1963 Washington Quarter. Whoever lost this coin must have been coming from the bank back in 1963 when they lost it. It looks brand new. I got another good signal and popped a brass key. I said to myself I would have missed that if I was using one of the other two detectors. I scanned the hole again and got another good audio response. I dug just below where the key was and popped a 1943 Silver War Nickel. I also ended up finding a bunch of clad coins, a few Wheat Pennies (1949, 1918, 1926) and a Hercules pendant. I was going to go for a third silver, but I was wearing down, so I thought I'd leave it for another day.

Maybe my Genie just works when I'm swinging a Tesoro.:detecting:

My usual settings. Discrimination - Gatorade Sports Foil Cap, full sensitivity, a slight hum for the all metal mode and slightly negative on the GB.

Tabman great finds. The quarters I find usually start at 1965 for some reason. I need a Genie!

Can the Tesoro's hold their own against your other high end detector?

Raineyday, not only can Tesoro detectors hold their own and then some, but they're so much more fun to use.

I just noticed that I typed '1963' instead of '1964'. Oh well it won't be my last screw-up. :)

Oh and one other thing, I went back over some areas today that I've detected before and noticed that the slower I go, the more I find.

Tab I don't always take your word, I look at the pictures compared to that spanish coin , I am disappointed now , Hope you can continue making the most of it ,its always fun to see what you find , and inspires us all to keep looking and get out

I was using NEL SharpShooter coil it works about same as Tesoro's 5 x 10 DD coil.

Which two detectors? Take a look at my signature. I left my G2 at home.

Nice work Tabman. You are on fire. Life is good and even better with a genie...... May it go on for another 1,000 years for you Tabman.....Z

Tabman, it's good to know that these less expensive lightweight wonders can hold their own against some bigger dollar detectors. I REALLY enjoy using all three of mine. Just got back from the local swimming hole with the Tiger and found clad and bottlecaps, but enjoyed being in the water.

I went to an old park this afternoon that has about half a block of curb and sidewalk around it. Inspired by you I hit a fair portion of the curb and found a handful of clad, but no silver or Wheaties. Now I know things would have turned out differently if I had a genie to rub! Oh well! I found a fair of amount of clad at the edges where the ice rink is in the winter. Heavy with trash though. On the way out, riding around in an old part of town I found an old railroad station, which I have to confirm, but believe it is city property because kids were playing baseball there. This could be a good spot.

Rainyday, scouting for good spots to detect is super important if you want to find the good stuff.
