Tesoro Elderado 1st Gen

Well-known member
Just bought a metal box Elderado and was wondering if anyone had some experience with this machine, also what choice of coils are available with it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have the uMax version..smaller housing Eldorado. I love it. It's one of my favorite detectors. It's very easy to operate and gets pretty decent depth with the stock coil. It's fairly easy to ground balance, too. An easy way to determine depth is when you find a target, pop it into all metal and if you get a quick loud response it's a shallower target. If you get a quieter response it's a deeper target or something small. If it's a loud quick response and you dig a few inches and nothing is there, it's either trash or a deeper iron or trashy target. Has a great discriminator, too. Fun machine. Pretty sure any of the five pin coils will work on it.

Hey thanks for your input, I think it will make for a great park machine, Tesoro disc is one of the best.

It's my go-to park machine. Iv'e used it in the woods and found some civil war bullets, as well. I guess if someone else has good info on it they'll chime in. Happy hunting to you! I watch your videos on you tube, by the way. Good stuff.

Coinspader my first real detector was the original Tesoro Eldorado (metal box) that I purchased back in 1987. It has the older D-90 discrimination circuitry versus the later Eldorado which has the ED-180 circuitry but don't let that discourage you because it's still certainly capable of making good finds. Probably won't be quite as deep as the later Eldorado but depth is not everything plus it has a nice modulated audio to go with that solid Tesoro discrimination. You can use any Tesoro 5-pin coil along with any Troy Shadow X2 coil so you have a large selection of coils to choose from! Best of luck and HH!
