Tesoro has hit Cult Status?

Have been noticing lately the older Tesoro non-Umax metal detectors are selling at unusually high prices.

What's that all about?

Glad I got mine at a really good price................almost sold the Cutlass II that was sitting at my parents.
Deal didn't go thru. Decided to keep it for the 7" coil, had it shipped to me. Good decision on my part.
This sucker is hot, could not believe it. At least in air testing, it was much better than the Silver Umax I sold
out 13 months ago.

Should have clarified my post a bit. Referring mostly to ebay listings and those on Craig's List etc. then follow suit.
Ebay bidders seem to be setting the higher resale prices...........guess I should be on the look out for some of the
any bargoons out there............

I'd say you are right...a well deserved and earned cult following...A rabid group of users here too! I certainly can understand it from viewing the finds and following the posts. If I ever come across a deal on one, I'd give it a go.

I've seen Eldorado's posted for more than they sold for originally. There are others that seem to be holding a strong price - the Tolecs for example.

BTW, if I really wanted an Eldo, I guess I would be happy with an Outlaw (and a pile of coils).

When I was considering a new metal detector, part of the appeal that Tesoro offered was that there really were very few Tesoro detectors being sold or traded. That reflects a certain degree of satisfaction, I think, and that sounded like a good thing. After I got the Golden, I was so pleased with it that I added a modded Cibola.

they must have some feature that does not exist in modern metal detectors. or perform better . they are like a Rolex watch they have a good reputation. & performance in the feild.

Sure am Glad I got my Toltec II for $200.00 bucks when I did wont be letting it get away Sven thought about Modding it Like yours and then decided I think I will leave it for now Gotta Love those old Units was looking at adding a Outlaw but may just wait and try to locate me an older Bandito from someone who don't know what they Have !!! If I get Lucky LOL

ED-120 discrimination works,

I've known for a long time that they were great at unmasking good targets in the small ferrous based trash..... if tuned right. My wife bought a Toltec ll brand new in 1995, she would do better than me while we hunted together, I was hunting with the new XLT at the time. The XLT is great detector in it's own right (very deep), just not as good where the targets are closely spaced, in and around small ferrous trash like small nails, bobby pins, shallow rusty bottle caps etc. Except for my two tone Pantera, I prefer a single tone audio, which as most know that have used one... have a very descriptive audio. Some of the best of the older ones are the orig. Bandido (manual GB) or Silver Saber ll (factory set GB) they are very quiet while detecting in the iron rubbish, if it 'beeps' dig it, you might be surprised with what you find.

If I had known you were looking, had a line on an orig. Bandido a couple weeks ago for $95.00.
Almost bought it, was still thinking about it........like I really needed another, four is enough..........some one got it, good for me.
Can't be too greedy you know...LOL
That $95 in my hobby account I ended up being used in my new PI project.

Once you use a Tesoro, there's no going back. You'll be hooked for life. :)

Don't know why but older Tesoro's just give you more info in the audio....fortunately Tesoro still stock parts for real oldies but goodies....
