tesoro lobo st hip mounting question

*EDIT* I found out by just pulling it the clip expands enough to remove the pole, so I have it removed now, but my next question is, does the pole mount clip come off or does it just protrude? It seems kind of silly to have that plastic pole clip dangling out exposed to being damaged. So does the V-channel make it removable, before I pry to hard?

I can't seem to find any information about how to remove the unit from the pole I see you can depress the buttons and make it slide down the pole but the lock knob prevents from sliding it off the pole. I also see the V-shaped channel in the plastic casing where I would assume you could simply slide it out of but mine seems very stuck and I don't know if it is intended to be removed there or not. anyhow can someone w3ith experience direct me on how i can removed it if I wanted to hip mount it? I'm probably just overlooking something simple.

Thanks in advance.

I've tried hard to get the plastic pole out, but haven't managed so far. My brother's got the LST as well and he has sawn the pole off, he uses a little backpouch instead of hipmounting.
