Tesoro Vaquero finds a 1786 New Jersey Copper!

Last week I was out with my "V" at an old farm site which dates back to 1730's. About 20 minutes in, my "V" sang out. I rotated the disc knob and saw that it maxed out. I thought I had a dime, an older penny or quarter. I dug and at 5 inches down found this coin. I had no idea what I had until I got home. It turned out to be a 1786 New Jersey Copper! 1786!! That was 3 years before Washington became President! Tesoro makes one heck of a fine detector.

WOW!! Nice find. I just ordered another Vaquero after trading it last year toward an ETRAC. The ETRAC was nice but too heavy after 4 + hours of use. I found more with my Vaquero so I sold the ETRAC for a Vaquero.

I hear you. I own an ETrac as well but use my "V" 90% of the time, ETrac is a heavy md, very good, but heavy. I put together some YouTube videos on the Vaquero if you like, check them out. Just type '53Silver to call them up.

I also found myself relying too much on the numeric readout and passing up good targets that didn't read out as silver, then my hunting buddy would find them :-( Anyway enough about the ETRAC that's history, on to the new adventures with the Vaquero!
 
I was just watching your videos this evening, great videos and a nice calming voice to listen to. Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing more of your videos!
 
man thats the best find in my book a vaquero has found the ones i had earlier got me some firsts as well congrats to you i'd be very proud of that find!

Great find !!!!!!! I have to say thank you for making your you tube video's on the Vaquero. I recommend your video's to anyone who owns a Vaquero. I think you give the best instruction on ground balancing a Vaquero. Also your explanation on discrimination. Some people are instruction manual challenged :rage::rant: Just don't get what the instructions in the manual are saying:yikes: All the machines I have owned before my Tesoro's were automatic. So I had a little confusion in what I was hearing and seeing:shrug:. Tesoro should hire you to make CD's on all their detectors:thumbup:
 
Great find! Wow! That's awesome.

I too went from vid to none and have increased my finds in 2 trips over the guessing game with the screen!
