tesoro vaquero for gold nuggets?

I dont have a vaq but I have heard of people using one for gold. It wont perform like a Lobo but should work ok. I would suggest the small DD coil if you decide to go that route. It would also work with the 5x10 Lobo coil. If you already have a Vaq you should give it a try. Search the site for this topic, it has come up before.

I would go with a 5.75 DD,or the 10X5 Elliptical. You guys seen how the vaquero hit a very small gold earring on the test video, the gold bug could not hit it.I would be confident to hunt gold with the vaquero. This is a light weight very versatile metal detector. While coin and relic hunting i have found some micro small items.Don't ever underestimate the cowboy.

I use the 5x10 and a hi resolution ground balance mod. looking to get out for nuggets with it very soon. very impressed at how well it hits test nuggets. I know air test are only air test however the vaquero will hit my test nugget better than my AT gold,GMT,MXT pro or Garrett infinium.(please remember) just my own personal observation. I do not claim to be anykind of expert.

Can the tesoro vaquero find gold nuggetsYES, and if it does, which coil will be the good oneThe smallest one you have 5 3/4?

Thanks!!!

Because the ground that has gold is highly mineralized the Vaquero will struggle in the varing ground .........inother words you are going to be ground balancing every few feet.

That is why the LOBO Super TRAC was made, it does it outomaticly.

What is your high resolution GB mod.?

10 turn potenteometer.Tesoro once used 10 turn pots back in the day.Now it is what?3 3/4 turn.Yeap that's right,the old units turned 10 times!.I guess the 10 turn has more adjustment. :-D

I removed the pinpoint button and added a 5k 3 turn pot inline with the factory ground balance pot. Since the factory pot is 50k I now have 10 times the resolution compared to the factory set-up.
I also added a trigger switch that when locked foward offers all metal mode, when pulled back offers momentary all metal/pinpoint mode.

Good little unit, 5.75 or 10" x 5" the way to go for coils. Manual ground balance is not an issue despite other poster unless you are in extremely variable ground. I prefer manual over automatic. If you apply yourself to it the Vaquero is a capable nugget detector. As good as several other mid-frequency detectors on the market and a bargain price. Love the light weight design myself.
