I'm selling a Tesoro Vaquero I bought on August 1st, 2010 from a guy who bought it new about two years ago (from Mining & More in Hisperia, CA, see http://www.miningandmore.com/...now merged with Gold Fever Prospecting). He said he used it twice for one to two hours each time. He was selling it because he needed the money to fix a car to pass the SMOG test. Based on the way the detector looks, and other things he told me that checked out, I believe him. The detector looks as if it just came out of the box (still has the "shine" on the paint), except for a couple minor scratches on the bottom of the search coil cover, and several small paint scuffs (if one looks up close).
It is the first Tesoro I ever owned, even though I started metal detecting in 1976. I wanted to try one, because one reads so many great reports on them. I have tried it several times for a short time in my back yard, and realized I am completely addicted to a meter and TID...kept looking at the control box to check the meter! I don't think I can get away from that habit. Yes, I know there are multiple tones and that one hold the coil above ground to judge depth, but I prefer the meter.
The detector works really well...love that 3 & 3/4 turn manual ground balance control. It has the standard 9"x8" concentric coil (black coil & grey cover).
I live about 45 miles northeast of San Diego, and have a FedEx account, which usually results in lower prices, so I'm guessing shipping would be around $20-$25 in the lower 48 states. I'm asking $275 OBO, plus shipping.
