Hi,
New poster here. I guess there's a first time for everything. Been out of touch with the detecting world for a few years. Had to get the boy child through High School & College. Now for some ME time... Dug my old detector out of mothballs (Bounty Hunter Red Baron Jr.) Still as good as new. But old tech. Decided to cash in my clad and hunt down something better on eBay. My wife surprised me with my old one for Christmas about 20 years ago.... What I really wanted was a Garrett, even back then. Well, thanks to all of the advice on this forum from you regulars - I was just visiting then - I got a good deal on a GTAX 550 with an optional 4" coil. My goal was to get the best deal I could with just my "found" money and I think I did okay. Have had it out for 3 short trips and am impressed with it already. Stopped at a school near my house and used the 4" coil. Sure seems strange waving that little thing around, but it sure finds the stuff! Nothing old yet but lots of clad.... guess I had better start saving for a 1350. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">
Thanks again to all you regulars for being so free with advice to any one who needs it. Hope to be posting about some good finds here some day. Bill (SoCal)
