With a setting on my T2 of 75 18 2+ ground grab these finds were made among lots of nails. The Dolphin brooch dates from A.D.43 to 58 sill has some silvering also complete with its pin. Then the lovely Trumpet brooch found complete with a patina to die for dates Mid 1st to late 2nd century A.D. Then SILVER a denarius of Hadrian with a reverse of Hadrian clasping hands with Roman, minted in Amiens France. The soil on this UK site is very kind to metal. The T2 sorts the nails from the coins no matter how small some are only 1cm diameter very late 4th century

Great finds Youngted , those old Roman coils are so cool !! I am in the process of getting to know a T2 I recently acquired .:thumbup:

Certainly some great recoveries. You always blow me away with the age of your finds and your knowledge of them. Great hunting! HH jim tn

For a Newbie I suggest settings of Sens 75 Disc 15 ans 2+ then ground grab. If you are in a iron contaminated area the T2 will give a good signal on iron BUT try it across the other way if it grunts leave it where it is. You will soon get to know the solid good signals that the T2 gives. A good way is to use a small piece of rusted iron to test the sound also use a small coin to do the same. If you get what I call a screamer it is usually big iron but raise the coil way off the ground if its still there the bet is that its iron. You may wish to dig to prove the point

Thanks Youngted , I'll give those settings a shot . I've been using the 3+ tones ,varying my disc from 10 to 40 (mostly 30 ) and the sensitivity from 40 to 60 . I haven't been playing with the groundgrab at all ( I've done all my ground balancing manually before and during the hunt) . I've already had a few successes with the T2 (standard model). I'm not a newby to detecting but this T2 sure makes me feel like one sometimes as it seems you better have everything set dead nuts on to be getting the goodies .Things are coming together though . My last few hunts have been at a spot that I have been hunting for many years it's literally a carpet of pulltaps, poptops, screw caps , foil , aluminum chard and iron .It should be called "The garden of the slobs".I have pulled many silvers and wheats out of there but I know there are still coins being masked . I ordered the 5"DD but the Labor day holiday has delayed it . I hope it arrives before the weekend .I think the spot is just too junk infested for the 11" .Last night I found a Wheat penny there, the first in a while .I am getting fooled by damaged pulltabs sounding and reading as higher conductors . Many appear to be ones I have cut with my plugger over the years .The Gophers are currently real active and have pushed many tabs ( and one memorial penny) to the top . Both a hunting buddy and myself have each found a silver Roosie sitting atop a gopher mound ( the last a couple of years ago) . .The good finds at this location have gotten very few far between but a great place to learn your junk sounds .
