I notice with the pics the camera is actually focusing on the background material and not the stone!
I have a Sony Cyber-shot that takes great closeups. I hold my camera within an inch of the subject for my pics and wait for the focus ring to show on the subject.
I attached one of my favourite pics to show
You can even see the polish marks :-(

Nice-yep I had a Sony, was great till I wore it out and it broke, got a HP now, The Sony Cyber was by far the best, =great finds
