That new metal detector.......

Thank you to everyone who answered my question about the 1500 and 2500 Garrett dettector.
After doing some research on the computer I will probably make my new detector
a Garrett 1500. As much as I would like to try a Fisher F series they seem just too problamatic
in my opinion. Maybe when Fisher gets the bugs worked out I'll give one of the F series a shot.

Oooooo, you'll find the Garrett so much easier to use than the Fishers. The ones I've tried we're really noisy and downright quirky, compared to the Garretts. Obviously they work, as they sell them and many like them.
But I thought they were flimsy, and oddly configured. I'd take the Garrett.

Bought a used 1500 online a week ago. So far so good!

Still figuring out the finer points.

It is heavy like many have said, great to have the corded battery pack!

I have literally found thousands of coins, both clad and silver with my GTI 1500. I think you made a wise choice, and the GTI 1500 has that imaging feature, that when you learn it well and its limitations, you are really going to excel with that detector, and that's one Feature that other manufacturers don't have, because it's patented exclusively for Garrett :)

After you use the 1500 for awhile you won't have any need for the Fisher. :) I field tested Fishers when they were made by Fisher and they were great detectors but sadly Fisher doesn't make them anymore.

oh my old katz you are in for a real treat i went from a fisher CZ 3-d then too whites dfx then too Garrett and now I'm at a stand still and i am by no Menes saying the other brands are not as good because i would be lieing what i am saying i like the Garrett gti 1500 better. The only complaint i have is the weight of my Garrett gti 1500 but other than that i dig mostly good stuff now with occasional junk not the other way around .i think you made a wise choice my friend

Thank you again for the words of encouragement.
In these economically challeneged times I know I'm
spending a chunk of money but It will be well worth it.

So I read one of the reviews about BH being bad machines I have had my BH Pioneer 505 for 6 years with no problems and it will pickup everything my alot more expensive units will My GtI 2500, Fisher coinstrike, Minelab Eureka Gold, everything these units detect my 505 will detect and at the same depth it is not as well built or as sophisticated it has nomotion allmetal, discriminates very well and has great depth,I was down at the Columbia river this summer with lots of black sand on the beach I was just sort of looking around with my 505 when I got a large signal on a target and dug down over a foot and found a 6 inch thin peice of metal that was suprising for my BH, the unit is also a tad noisy, but the performance is very good for a cheap machine my air tests on a quarter correctly IDs it at 9-10 inches of course this would be reduced in the ground. So anyone that is crying about a BH being junk has obviously never used one. Happy Hunting
