the ace 250

cory in fla

New member
I currently use a bh lone star but I'm thinking of buying a ace 250, so far i read all good things about them. i was wondering how users that have the ace 250 how they like them ?

I like mine just fine. I use it as much as my GTI 1500. I have all the coils for it. I have a friend who was using a BH Time Ranger and after seeing how my ACE 250 performed, he bought one for himself and being a newbie, started finding alot more coins with the ace than with the bh. I think you will like it. Just take a little time and learn what it is telling you. Just the other day, I found a silver Rosie at 6.5 inches.:detecting:

Hi Cory in Fl. I think I am qualified to answer your question. I lived in DeBary 4 months ago. I lived there for 16 years. The Ace 250 works great in Fl. It will go deeper then most people will believe in the Fl. soil. It will Id accurately once you learn how to understand what it is telling you. It is a light weight dependable detector. It does great in the dry sand of the beach. It can go in the wet sand, but it doesn't do as well. Once you have mastered it, you may want to buy a salt water detector for the ocean and wet sand of the beach. You really need a MDer for the two types of hunting for the best results. I would get the Ace first and master it as the salt water MDer's are more expensive and harder to learn. The Ace was one of the biggest sellers last year. It will pay for itself in no time. After one month my Ace paided for itself with what I found. If you want, you can send me a pm and I can give you some tips on where to MD in that area of Fl. Here are a few of my Fl. finds last year with the Ace 250.
Two of the gold ring are from the beach. Two are from a park and the one with the bl. stone from a community center parking lot. I found 17 rings in 8 months last year.

I found this Chinese coin from the 1700's in Lk. Helen on a dirt road.

Silver ring was found in a parking lot at Venice Beach.

These were found at an old train station in Orange city: 1839 lg. cent, 1907 Canadian quarter.

I have found many v nickels, lots of wheat and IH cent. They come out of the ground very clean in Fl. They are easy to dig and there are a lot of them if you know where to go.

I would say the Ace 250 is definitely worth it for MDing in Fl.

Salt water tips on Daytona Beach for the Ace:

sensitivity..4-3 in wet sand
use all metal mode
PP is very vague, detune pp works good
Fast moving water makes it false..sen. 1...no good cure
swing level
You can hear and learn a false hit from a good hit
YOU CAN notch out below penny and eliminate most falsing and all gold
Pennies 4" and quarters at 6" in wet sand
Stay in the dry sand and you can beat them all(well, it seems like it)

Summer treasure comes from tourist. Winter treasure comes from the sea.

G'day Cory.
I haven't used the Lone Star myself, but the first detector that I did use, was the Bounty Hunter Tracker 4. On the up side for the Lone Star, you have automatic ground balance, but that's about it.
The Ace has 12 notches of discrimination as opposed to 5 on the Lone Star, The Ace has 2 pinpoint functions, which once you learn how to use them, are very accurate. On the pinpoint feature alone on the Ace, is the best one I've had out of the five different detectors that I have owned. I became that frustrated with my tracker 4 in not being able to locate my target after having passed over it, that I nearly gave the hobby away.
You will find that you will get better depth on the Ace over the Bounty Hunters as well. If you hunt on sand, then that will become important. The large coil is also got a couple of inches on the large one for the Bounty hunter; it is also elliptical in shape, which will give you a much better coverage of real estate.
Out of the five detectors that I've owned, which include the Tracker 4, a Sovereign, an X-Terra 30 (which I still own and enjoy) The Ace 250, and a recent purchase of an XS Explorer (which I don't have a huge amount of time on) my favourite, is the Ace. It has given me the best overall satisfaction. I use the other 2 that I own, but I generally grab the Ace first. Mainly because it's light, reliable, gives you a fair idea what the target is, and has a deadly accurate pinpoint, which I consider, to be second to none (I have played around with a Tesoro, which are supposed to be the best pin pointers, but from what I saw, it's no better than the Ace). Not bad for a cheap detector. It's not that I'm brand loyal, it's just that the Ace does live up to it's hype. About the only thing that I'm not to fussed on, is the bell tone.

I switched from a 505 to the ACE. You won't like it the first day. It looks, feels and sounds different. Then once you learn how to pinpoint with it, and you learn to turn the sens. down if it goes a little crazy. And then you start finding coins and that little bell sound will grow on you fast. I would tell anybody to buy a 250. Even if you have a more expensive detector. That thang is go to throw and go. Throw it in the truck and go!! You will love the ACE. You will replace the BH with it. I still love my 505... But the yellar fellar gets to go more.

Hi Cory,
Hey it's a fun machine, light, user friendly, simple to operate and it does the business. Oh, and the price is great.
What more do you want.
:twodetecting::cheers:
