I was in Fl. last year at this time and found two gold rings and a gold chain with my Ace. I thought that was good. Well they were 18k and 14k.

If I found a ring here in WV, I wouldn't be able to chip it out of the ground it is so frozen. Well, if I could get to the ground.

nah the exact opposite to many spots to hunt  the hardest part of my detecting day is deciding were to go & what type of hunting to do :look: i"v got a research book that i put likely looking spots to hunt in ( mainly for old coins ) for every one i cross off the list as detected i put two in to be detected.& as for tot lots i reckon it would take me two months full time detecting 10 hours a day to clean all the tot lots in Melbourne out & by the time i did that they"ed be filling up again.

You'd better watch out. Chris Durbridge in direct competition with his GTI on the very same tot lots!
Who said you need a GPX 4500 to find gold. You are out hunting 90% of those that use gold machines. They'd be spewing if they knew that gold was being found at the end of their street! Think of all the money and unpleasant week-ends chasing the unrefined stuff out in water parched paddocks far from home.:poke:

yeah i"v got some heavy competition at the moment someone is hitting all the tot lots in my area real hard every time i head out i find little holes all over the place so i"m having to go farther afield to get my loot.
i used to be one of those people looking for gold nuggets ( in NZ ) wile walking over gold jewellery, i find way more gold now i look for refined gold  & it costs less to get to my hunting spots.
by the way Mick these rings were found with the big coil i got from you  i try ed to get my boy out today but his hands are stuck to a Nintendo DS  hopefully we"ll get out next weekend so he can try the new detector out.

I have the same trouble with my boys.:surrender::lol:
I really liked the big coil. As you can see from the wear on it, it got a lot of use. Glad your enjoying it. You can hunt as close to the metal with it as the standard coil. Just wait till you get out on a beach with it. In dry sand it had an inch more depth than my XS Explorer and you can cover ground more quickly with it as well. You can also easily pick a deeply buried coke can as well.(Long pinpoint fade.) Not so with the Explorer.
I think that there is at least one Explorer user on findmall that hits the same spots as you. I'd imagine that there would be plenty others, but most aren't armed with an Ace!
Keep 'em posts coming! You're making me wish I was livin' back in the city again. MAN! I'd clean up big time if I did.:throw::lol:
Mick Evans.

WOW!! That's a haul!! Were froze in here  TID's please!!!

The earring hit foil the 22k ring hit the first pulltab notch & the 18k ring hit the 1c notch.

Nice finds :clapping: We still have over three feet of snow on the ground and there was no January thaw.. :ranting: I am hoping for a good 'noreaster so I can head down to the beaches in New Hampshire.
