Omega 8000 user but I just noticed that Garrett is releasing the AT Pro in November. It sounds simple, costs 600 bucks and appears to be powerful like the Omega 8000 but with a smaller control box. But get this, it is waterproof to 10ft! Yes, that means no more weather covers. I hope Teknetics incorporates at least weatherproofing into future models as this is a feature that all manufacturers must follow suit with imo.
I think the Omega 8000 is turning heads for what it does in it's price range and other manufacturers must take notice. Further I think with the continuing down economy that high end (and sometimes complicated) units are perhaps loosing some of their luster. Most of the money is going to be made with mid priced units if things with the economy don't change much imo. Perhaps more powerful mid priced units are the near future?
I can't wait to see Teknetics next offering (not to mention the competition). I get the feeling there is going to be a whole new wave of machines next year, following in our very own Omega's footsteps.
