The day after a bad hunt.....

I normally don't have bad days. Why? Because if my morning is bad I keep going until things improve. My best coin day ever started out terrible. Last night I ran out of daylight. After the sun set I kept going. Had a 10 YO boy in tow, nice country boy, and he told me that he had been kicked out of the park after dark many times. I told him I was going to go until 9pm and if a cop came we wouldn't get in trouble and that we would leave without an argument. I just counted my coins from last night and it wasn't as bad as I thought, but it was well below my norms. Well below.

Hit the road at 7 am today. It was already muggy but I needed vengeance. Maybe not the right word. I did OK. I finally got a War Nickel. How many coins have I dug since my last? Over 20,000, probably closer to 22,000. I also got another 1942 Merc which is the date I get most. I'll take all the 1942 Mercs the ground wants to give up. One Wheat, 1956D. A foreign coin that has 6 1/4 grams written on it. I need to research this and I'm sure the weight is a carryover from back when the were made of silver. It ain't silver. A rosary in many pieces. A Diabetes medic alert fob. Hunted two hours exactly and averaged almost a coin a minute. Well above normal.

I stopped at a bank to get some cash and went in to ask the teller if they had any interesting coin rolls. They had one roll of Half Dollars which I bought. When I opened it at home I scored two 40% halves. Nice.

Finally, when I entered the two hunts on my spreadsheet I checked a few figures and noted my lifetime coin finds with my Ace 250 and GTI 2500 combined were exactly 27,000. I just love nice round figures.

Chris

I reread a few of my old posts and I think I overuse the word I. There are four more. I'm not normally that conceited.

in your post. I I I. man oh man oh man. Me don't think that is a bad total on your coins. I would gladly take it. Using the word I is not conceited. Using ME ME ME is though.:) Good hunting.

Looks good to me Chris ! I like your philosophy if things are bad
just keep going until things improve.. It's those that quit when things
are bad that have a bad day. No way it gets any better after that.
I have seen many of your posts and I have no doubt that you just
keep right on going when many would have stopped. This is a
good example of that right here. Good thinking and good hunting
on your part. Good hunting to you ! Gene

I (1) have been thinking who cares what "I" (2) do but then I (3) realize that I (4) like looking at what everybody else is doing. When I (5) tell a story about a nice steak dinner that I (6) had, I (7) usually begin by relating the events of the rest of my day up to that point. Again, who cares, but it is my process. Somehow getting stuck behind a slow driver relates to a steak dinner in my mind.

Chris

Please don't count the I's (:geek: in my next post! Funny!

When I (9) was in the Navy (Submarines) whe had a game where we used to start every sentence with the word I (10). It was amazing how quickly somebody who didn't know what we were doing started unknowingly doing the same.

Gene, I'm just stubborn. It's hard to take a bad hunt when I know that I'm reasonably skilled, have good sites to choose from, and have great equipment.

Thanks for looking.

Chris

There you go Chris. That's what makes you great with a detector.
I like to call it determination rather than being stubborn. When I
start collecting all the trash the ground has to offer I just keep on
digging. Figure I am paying my dues. When I make a nice find I
just stand there looking at it and just knew it was meant to be.
Right then and there I have very little recollection of all the trash
in my pouch. I am glad I saw your post. I use a computer at work
and although many times I have time to read the post I may not
have time to comment. Depends how busy I am. Glad I wasn't so
busy today. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with on
your next hunt. HH Gene

I (1) look forward to reading your posts Chris! They inspire me to try harder, My nephew/hunting buddy has received his money but has not made up his mind on a tector yet. My guess is that what ever he buys he will do and just show up with it and I (2) will do my best to teach him and I (3) will turn him on to this site and you and John and UW and all the other awesome people on here and I'm confident he will learn even more than I have. New people getting into this hobby today kinda have an advantage as the Internet wasn't even a dream when I started out, I (4) have learned more about my hobby right here on this computer in the last year than I have in all the years I (5) have been tectin! I thank all of you for that!

Only 5 I's Chris! LOL...:garrett::usaa:

will never count the I's (2) in your post again if I (3) can help myself. But there are times I (4) just can't stop myself. But I (5) will try to see that I (6) don't do it again.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting this reaction to that comment. Can't somebody say something nice about that War Nickel that I've been trying to find for almost 2 years? You know how many nickles I dig too.

Thanks for looking Oak. Did you see that guy selling a used 1350 with DD coil? Might be worth a look for your nephew. It looked to be in great condition.

Chris

I was being glib. I thought it was funny.

Now please never reply to my posts again. (That's a joke too.)

Chris

OMG You guys are too funny! Chris, I did see that, I think it's a sweet deal. I will pass it along.:garrett:

Enjoyed the post, Chris. 42 Mercs are always good.

You're doing great with the 2500 and 250.

How do you decide which one to use?

In what situations do you prefer the 250 over it's big brother?
