The difference between a Garrett and XP Mi-6 pinpointer

Someone asked a question in another forum about the XP Mi-6 pinpointer so I figured I'd copy and paste my results here.

Garrett Carrot on #3 (full sensitivity) with Merc dime 2".

XP Mi-6 paired to remote on full sensitivity. I had to GB the pointer due to the amount of EMI in my house by pressing the button once which probably lowered the sensitivity a little bit 4.5".

The Mi-6 will always be deeper when paired to the XP remote because you can adjust the sensitivity up to "50". When in standalone mode the Mi-6 has three levels of sensitivity just like the Garrett. Even in standalone mode the Mi-6 is deeper but not as pronounced as when paired to the remote.

Have been mulling over getting my Carrot reworked (snicker) and having it as a backup. Have you used it in the field yet? Also the MI-6 is rechargeable, yes?

Yes I have, great pointer and it is rechargeable.

Good deal...I have a few places I hunt where the coins are 8" deep and beyond. You have to get a 6" deep hole first before the PP will even start to see the target - a little better ID with a shallower hole sure would be nice! Our soil here is full of magnetite (black sand) - I have some magnets on my digger and every time after a hunt you can see the magnetite crystals hanging on for dear life!

Even if it could see coin-size targets at 3" away this would be a big help for me!
