[size=large]Now the reason I joined the GPAA is because the had some claims within driving distance of where I lived in Wasilla, AK. and we could go in by ourselves. The claims didn't "pan out" too well, so I let my membership expire. Now that's not to say that the GPAA is not for you; they do have some really good claims in various parts of the country if you were to go on their pay-hunts. They have claims in Nome and Fairbanks, AK. If you have the money and like the camaraderie, those would be good adventurous excursions. They also put out a fine magazine. This of course is another example of "mining the miners", but they do have hunts that enable you to get some gold, be around like-minded people and if you can afford it, travels to historical mining areas to try you luck. Yes,as there are a number of claims here in AZ that are open to GPAA members and gold is being found.Most good gold producing areas are covered by claims,either private or clubs.So,you do not have much choice at getting to look for gold unless you belong to a club or are good friends with someone who has a claim.Also,GPAA is not the only prospecting club out there.
