.....I went out o feed the chickens today before Carol got home and there he was--- brutally murdered.
I paid $5 for 5 baby chickens a year and a half ago at the county fair. We had never raised babies before so we didnt know to give em chick start only for 6 weeks. We gave it to them for 6 months and raised 5 gigantic chickens. Today, Fathead followed suit and joined his brothers and sisters in that great chicken coop in the sky.
Baby girl weighed in at 22 lbs when she passed with her brother, Fathead at 16 lbs.
He was a special bird, that fathead--always friendly outlasting his siblings by a good year.
Pallbearers will be Scotty, Kellogg Jr., Rusty, Alfalfa, Casper, and Cotton Top. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Gone, but not forgotten...a damn good rooster!

Many times when you lose a pet, it is almost like losing a member of the family. Sorry to hear that your rooster was murdered by a neighborhood dog. Are you going to be getting some more chickens? Kelley (Texas) <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
 
how was the chicken brutally murdered? shame! don't let the murderers get away with this, this is appalling make sure you roast them when they are found.

possum or a coon, but lately its been Muffin; our neighbors dog. Fatheads death is currently being investigated, but is still unsolved..........and then......the case went cold.......

you wanted 98% fat! It was the funniest thing, to see those chickens walk around. Reminded on of a pumpkin, short and round! They did get off to a good "start" though............about six months of it!:lol Sorry Lil Brother, and Carol! You all hate to lose one of your pets as much as I do, but I've learned not to name them anymore! Well,....almost...there's still Kellogg 1 & 2, Ms. Gimp,and Fearless, and............oh well, never mind!

I also raised those type of birds, we had to be careful about feed quantity or they would heart attack and keel over. Max weight was 10-12 lbs after that all bets were off.
I never heard of anyone raising them that big for pets <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> to each their own tho <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">
