The nicest Barber Dime I've seen come from the ground!:surprised:

Here is my buddy Dale's find from 2 weekend's ago. He found more than this but this is just a rarity to find. It is an 1897 Barber Dime in AU condition with mint luster still visible. It is the best example of a high grade Barber Dime to be pulled from the ground without question. I was there when he was digging it and I walked over and asked what he had found and he told me that he found a really high grade Barber Dime and I thought, OK, it must have full liberty, but I was in shock and excited when I seen the condition of it. It has Full Liberty and Full Headband and there is absolutely no wear on this coin. He has already taken it to 2 different coin shops and they grade it at AU or better and told him that it was dropped the day it was new. Just an amazing find. I will try and get a better picture on Sunday night. I have to get going because I have a Hunt to attend tomorrow. I think the luster of the coin is making it look the way it does so I will have to run it by Photoshop on computer when I get back. The Official Red Book shows a value of $70 for an AU 1897 Barber Dime. An "O" mint would be $600 and an "S" mint $250.

Very, very sweet looking coin. Simple, silver, shiny, and surrounded by dirt for all the years. Maybe it will grant Dale three wishes for the rescue.

That is a beauty for sure James. Tell your buddy congrats for me and good luck to you on your hunt tomorrow..........:) Think positive as you have told me.........:) HH.

Maybe he will see your post here and I hope he does. I have been wanting to get him to post his finds but he has no camera or scanner yet. If and when he finally does post, I think everyone would be amazed at all his finds. Thanks again for the post.
