The Original Diet

Genesis 1:26-30 (New King James Version) "Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.' And God said, 'See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food'; and it was so." What does it tell us about the original diet? What might it mean that both humanity and the animals had a similar diet?

God planted a garden full of fruits and nuts for the nourishment of our first parents. We only can speculate how different this produce may have been from what is available to us today, and we assume there was a wide variety of colorful, tasty treats, a great variety of fruits and nuts in the large cornucopia provided by God. We can imagine the tree of life, planted near the beautiful river, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. The leaves were for healing of all peoples and for the prevention of all diseases and sickness. This is how the apostle John describes the tree in Revelation 22:2, 3; this description of life in Eden is so brief, and we are left with many unanswered questions, but we do know Adam and Eve enjoyed food from one tree in the Garden that is no longer available to us.

'Scientific Research' has confirmed that a vegetarian diet is healthier than a diet high in meat full of saturated fat. The Adventist Health Study, conducted by Loma Linda University, compared Seventh-day Adventist church members in the United States who share similar demographics and lifestyles except for two different categories of diet. When those who eat a lacto-ovo-vegetarian diet (plant food plus eggs and milk) were compared to omnivores who included red and white meats in their diet, the vegetarians had less heart disease, less types of cancers, less hypertension, less diabetes, less dementia, and less osteoporosis

The healthier we are the more energy our bodies have along with thinking better and wiser, we are able to serve God more and help those who are in need of help and encouragement for a better life to live themselves! Without energy and a right mind, we aren't of much use to God, others or ourselves in the capacity that we should be! Humans and animals only became meat eaters after Adam and Eve sinned against God and were cast out of the Garden of Eden! But by accepting His only begotten Son, Jesus, as our own personal Savior, we will have everlasting life in Paradise and live in the same beauty and perfectness that they lived in where there wasn't any sin until Lucifer entered the serpent's body spiritually and cunningly fooled Eve and then Adam! There will be no sin ever in the Heavenly Kingdom of God, Who is our blessed Savior, Jesus, born without sin in the flesh of mankind but was still fully God and never sinned! He was the perfect Sacrificual Lamb to take the place of every sinner that we might be saved but we must believe and committ our all to Jesus by loving and obeying Him and the Commandments of God! Amen! Ma Betty
