the same coil different performance?

Hello how many of you have noticed? the same coils different performance? today try to use my other 1000 or 1050 coil and found its to sensitive to some stones--high tone. started to check other 1050,1000,slim, accelerator coils on the same stones and found that some more quiet than others? what is situation with new pro11 or sef? if compare sef to sef or pro to pro do they--sometimes performer differently? what other producers coils? any experienced? thanks Stasys

NO two electronic pieces are created equal. They have tolerances and once they leave the factory many things affect their performance. Just like no two detectors are the same. Now ill ask you.... is quieter good or bad over those rocks? Just because its quieter over the hot rock doesnt mean its not as affective or even better than those that are more sensitive to that rock. Those minerals may or may not affect the ability of the detector to find desired targets. A lot will depend on its ability to filter those noises at depth. For the most part you hear those hot rock when you coil is very close to them, if you raise the coil a bit that hot tone disappears... or if you pin point it it will disappear.

Erik sorry for neanderthal English,!
Dew for me much more better coil which is not so sensitive on stones, or in other words quiet. I hunt without discrimination and to get more signals then its already in the ground no point. only yesterday I realize that two the same coils can be so different ! thanks all

If you are getting that much noise from hot rocks.... lower your sensitivity a bit .... OR just LEARN disc them by blacking out just that one upper corner block. Pretty quick just use the small square to knock out the 00 31 block. Too much sensitivity, thin soil where your coil is running right on the surface is often the cause and can be fixed to make any coil more sensitivity. Here is where a good test garden comes in. Testing at depth is the key..... those targets giving you that problem ARENT deep they are surface rocks just below the soil and your coil is setting right on top of them.

Thanks Dew I know about sensitivity,if the same coil, like i said before behavior differently with the same sensitivity! why to use discrimination to silence hot rocks if other coil works quiet?I think better choice another quiet coil ! I have excelerator 10x14 few times was used and it was unbearable in the fields where allot stones! interesting how behave new coils like sef or pro11? any experiences? thanks Stasys

Hi - I was just joking with you - there really should be no noticeable difference between the same model coil or detector. If so I suspect the quality control is not very good and the manufacturer should be contacted. One can't try out 10 of the same coils to see which one sounds the best like a piano ! I'd be very concerned if two or three brand new coils sound different on the same item!!

Stands to reason a weak solder joint, weak internal part or just poor tuning all add to the equasion and nope all same model detectors are not the same or either are coils as always that extremely hot one or unfortunately the extremely cold one...or somewhere in between...

Combination of electronics, especially those not standard WILL change the dynamics of the system.... even the environment like heat and cold affect electronics regardless of quality control.... grimlins are grimlins. As a military guys let me give you this example... if you have set tolerance for a weapon and those tolerances are set 2 inches from the barrel there may be little differences.... but then measure it 100 yards out... you will see the difference. Sensitivity can give the same affect... especially if those tolerances were set based on the standard setting that come with the machine. Im sure i didnt change anyones mind.... but when you deal with electronics ABOUT the same is norm.

thanks today took tester and checked resistant-in and out the same coils models. its look like coil made in different year and posibly by different hands can have different resistance, sometimes in one side coil sometime in other or in both. Thank you all, interesting if somebody can check with tester few pro coil or sef?would be interesting what is the difference?
