The White's PI1000 and the XR-71 'Sniffer'

Hi Eric and all,
you are the real experts in PI designs and commercial units !
I think that only who use everyday a m.d. unit can really answer about technical aspects of it.
I have two questions for you :
Since few days ago I'm searching for documents/manuals on the XR-71 'Sniffer'.
But found only a few references...
I know that it's/was a professional/industrial PI detector but older than the ones we have now on the market.
It seems to be near in performance to the AN-19/2 mine set and to the PulseStar and Lorentz3 but I have no documentation that clearly explains advantages and tradeoffs of it.
1) Does anyone knows the XR-71 'Sniffer' detector and it's operating specific performances/tradeoffs?
I'm also searching informations about the old White's PI-1000 ...eventually to buy a surplus.
2) Is the PI1000 performance the same of the actual underwater PI3000 , or a more dirty and too earlier design not comparable with e.g. the Eric's DeepStar ?
Thanks in advance,
Martin
