"The Woods"

I've seen quite a few people mention going to "the woods" to search. I have a fair amount of woods that I can easily get permission to search.

My question is, Besides looking for old Homesteads, are there other things you look for to help you decide where to search in a woodland area?

Anywhere that people can play or relax is a good place, close to fields right at the edge of the woods is also good. My brother found this place in the woods that use to be a recreation area years ago, it had stone fire pits and old tables and hadn't been used in about 50 years, we found more silver in there than anyplace we've ever hunted. We actually would fine more silver than clad, it was like a metal dectectors heaven. Right now is the best time of the year to hunt the woods before the bugs and growth start.
