The Yard Was Full of Silver

I drove to a small town 20 minutes from my house where I have hunted recently. The owner of a whole block in the town has let me hunt his property for the past few months, but I had never hunted the yard of his personal residence until two days ago. It turned out to be worth the wait, as I dug 4 silver Washington quarters and 2 silver Rosies. Two of the quarters were in one hole, and one of the quarters and one of the dimes were together in another hole. The 1958 quarter on the far right is in near extra fine condition. I also dug 2 of my most hated coin - 1965 Washington quarters. Those are always a real heartbreaker! LOL The V nickel is a 1910, and was nearly on top of the ground at only ~1/2" depth. Also found 11 Wheaties, and assorted other stuff/clad, including a 1952 dog tag and small child's spoon (not pictured).

Thanks for viewing, and HH!

(BTW, I cross-posted this in the Today's Finds thread)

Your living my dream! Nice finds. With all that block you've got a lot of good hunts coming in the future.

Thanks!

I've already hunted most of the property. I just got around to hunting his yard this past week, but he's OK with me re-hunting some of the areas. Actually, I've found more in his yard than I've found on all of the rest of the property.

That was a good yard, nice pile of silver. I've found over the years that it frequently takes 3 or so outings on a spot before they start producing the better finds. Often times once the clad and Memorial cents and some trash gets removed the older coins began to show up. I'd hit a couple of those previous spots another time or two. Good luck and nice finds. Nice job on the 4 Washington Quarters. The silver dime to Wheat ratio is about right. jim tn is right about the older coins showing up after a couple of hunts. With the V Nickel being there I bet there are some deeper Mercury and Barber Dimes. Could also be a few green Indians that give iffy hits. It's nice to have a productive site that you can revisit. Congratulations on a good permission.

Nice hunting!!! Perfect results!! Take Jim's advise. I hunted an old school grounds a couple years ago and got nothing but clad and a hand full of wheat. I kept going back and after my 5th trip started pulling silver quarters. I hear you about the 65's lol.hh rickinmi

Thanks, Jim.

I plan to go back and re-hunt some of the areas, possibly with a different machine.
