They left a few....

I planned to visit four small nearby towns that I have never hunted this AM. The first town on the trip has a small park that two of my buddies hunted a couple days ago and reported finding some older stuff. Soooo..... I thought i better check it out myself. It didn't take long to find the evidence of their hunt. In fact walking around, I could tell who dug each plug. I started off popping some clad and then found a pocket spill. A kennedy half pockets spill! The first one I dug put a little :bouncy: on my face. Then I rechecked the hole before filling and got another good tone. After rechecking the second kennedy half fell out. This made me chuckle a little bit. So I rechecked one more time for good measure, and yet another good tone. Still chuckling, I dig some more, and sure enough a third kennedy all around 5 to 6 inches deep. I'm now laughing out loud. Nothing old (95,74,72) but still fun to dig. The next find about ten feet away was a wheatie. It had a nice green patina but the date was covered by a smooth black piece of charcoal-like material fused to the coin. It clicked it a few times with my thumbnail and it popped off revealing a 1916 D. Sweet, I'll take it! after stopping for a bite to eat, I hunted the area some more and found yet another kennedy half, 1976, about 30 feet from the first kennedys. I was having enough fun hunting this recently hunted out park so I decided not to continue on to the other three towns I had planned to hunt. I'll save them for the next trip I guess. I didn't walk away with any old silvers, but still had fun at this "hunted" park. Here's a few pics of the hunt, enjoy and thanks for looking. TC & HH, JJ

I have never had a 3 half day. I did have a pocket spill last year that had an Ike dollar and a kennedy half in the same hole which was pretty cool though.
Thanks for sharing your finds.

Those Kennedy Halves are really fun to find and if they are still there in that Park, who knows what else could be there. Congrats on 4 Halves! That's amazing even though none of them were Silver but what are the odds of finding 3 in one hole and then another later on. The Wheat is proof that Silver should be there somewhere so I would go back and start working a Pattern and go slower than you normally do and see if you get any Deep Hits. And as Bryce said....Nice Pics! Good Luck and HH to you when you do a return trip.:detecting:

Thanks Bryce and James. The return trip to this park is a given. I think I'll call this park Arlington National because of all the Kennedy's I found resting peacefully.:thumbdown: (Sorry, that was bad) I think a more thorough search is in order, but am just happy to walk away with what I did after my buddies hammered it. JJ,

Very nice find on the drop of mutiple 50c coins! There's got to be a lot more left behind at that park! BTW, your avatar is great too!
