Thinking about the 3khz coil

I keep getting ground balance readings of low to mid 20s with my 6in hf coil. You think a 3khz will be ok in the 20s. Just trying to get a better id in the open areas. This 6 inch is great for trash.

I may be able to offer some input here. I just recently purchased a 3khz coil on the bay. I have been wanting to buy one for sometime and a good deal came up. I live here in Northern AZ and our ground can be pretty unforgiving in places. Most of the places that I have hunted with it have ground balanced anywhere from 13 to 16 and the 3khz has given me very little trouble. I can run stable with little chatter maxed out and have no problems when sensitivity is a few numbers lower. The thing I have noticed is that the LF coil seems to be more sensitive to older rusty small iron. That being said, I have been back over 3 of my old spots and have pulled close to 50 more coins out. I would highly recommend it and after the first week with it, I am starting to be able to hear the different harmonics that Digger speaks of in his manual when its over the rusty stuff. BTW, I am running it on my 70 hope this helps and good luck.

That's good to hear. I was worried about the mineralized soil around here. Which I hear you do have it worse in areas down in az. I have a couple dd for highly mineralized if I need them.

I have been watching for a while and see hardly anyone selling any. Just about every other coil has popped up in the used market areas but this one. One did on feeBay but was gone quicker than I could have my $ in PayPal. Lol.

I called and emailed some dealers and everyone is out of stock on the 3khz. Seems like minelab is not making anymore? What gives on this coil? Isotope really that good?
