...though you wouldn't know it with my finds. Two zincolns, and a ton of trash, at an abandoned 1930 home I recently got permission to hunt. Talk about TRASH. This place was FILLED with it. I'm used to pull tabs, nails, and screw caps, but this was crazy! MUCH more random junk at a homesite than a park. I had nice repeatable tones ALL OVER the TID spectrum. I dug 'em, as I was not sure what they might be at an old homesite; you name it, I think I found it. Nothing of value though -- junk. But, I'm learning how to run this cool machine. I got machine-gunned again today with all the tones, but I'm learning to manage it. Today, the machine gunning was ALL targets in the ground, as I had virtually zero EMI. After setting up the machine it was super stable and quiet in the air; I was even able to run 99 sens +9 thresh if I wanted to, but I didn't, as I wanted to cut down on all the trash tones. I used the 10" stock elliptical concentric; next time at this site I think I'll use the 5" DD; I am SURE this site has some old coins (and hopefully some jewelry) on it; another issue is that much of it is VERY overgrown -- 6" tall grass everywhere that was SCREAMING for an F75 LTD/T2 LTD in boost mode!!
. I'll make you a deal -- anyone with an LTD that is willing to give me Fisher F-series lessons (and detecting tips in general
), you can join me at this virgin site -- I'll get an education, and meanwhile I can watch in awe as you pull the deep silver out, while hovering over the 6" tall matted bermudagrass!
Seriously, though, I continue to learn, and to be impressed with the sensitivity of this machine. The coolest thing today was that I pulled one of the zincolns from a 6" hole that, before I found the penny in my dirt pile, yielded two rusty iron nails. Very impressed that this machine found the penny in that close of proximity to two nails!
