Started in the back yard last night and found some wire , copper, .22 cases, and a couple pennys. Went to my fathers today and learned much more. Set the GB and ran just a standard setting gain around 70 thresh around 9 and notched out every thing but dimes, quarters, .50 cents, tones @d2-d4! I found 1 1971 kennedy, 8 pennys(one 1944 weat) and one 1971 nickle, a piece of brass and a piece of lead pipe! Not to bad the first day out. Ilook forward to tommorrow, dreams of high tones will dance in my head. (I notched out because of all the .22 cases and BBs I left all over the yard when growing up) still haven't figured out how I the f5 grabbed a nickle when it was notched.

Mine arrives tomorrow and I cannot wait! It sounds like yours is doing so well. I'll let you know what I find!!

You may want to not notch and clean that area up so the stuff that is masked will start to show up. You are going to lose depth also and get the 11DD and the 5DD you will see the diference I had the F5 but fell in love with the omega 8000 no emi as deep as my F75 and fast and great in iron.

He is just starting out Low-boy. Give him some time.

Any detector you learn well, will find the goodies for you...... I've read good things about the f5.......hh.....DAN

I got mine this evening. I didn't have but about an hour to hunt with it and let me say, I love this metal detector. I didn't find anything good but what I did find the display and the depth were right. I know when I learn it, it's going to be the best MD I have owned so far! :)

went back today but only found pennys and brass. I did experience some emi close to the transformer so iknow what that sounds like now. I think I will go to afield next where I can just turn it loose and explore some. I am dissapointed only in my inability to distinguish the tones(subtle) when they vary. I still can't tell a penny from a .30 caliber casing. Time is on my side and Mr. Bill is sending me a pistol pro to help with the little stuff.

I made it out today with my cousin and hunted for about 2 1/2 hours. I found 3 pennies, 7 dimes, and 1 quarter. I found also a shell casing and an old stove part. I think the F5 is awesome. I was a little worried about the learning curve but I'm having a blast while learning this machine. It has really made metal detecting for me fun again!! I can't wait to get back out there!

To be honest today I played around with it. The setting was mostly in the sixties around 65 or 67 as I recall. I tried it in all metal. Played around with the phase lock. I still dont have that down pat yet. I used discrimination in the end. I used notching also. I set threshold to -2 and left the gain in the 12 o'clock position. I also worked on pinpointing. If this sound like a crazy mess thats because it is. I'm in learning my detector phase and have a blast doing it. I'm going out again tomorrow.
