Shooter, does that back end on top retrack and have a spring loaded feel to it? Or does it open there? If so that is one like I had when I was young , it was my favorite, you said it was small, correct? Like 4 or 5 inches or smaller? Does it have some slight heft to it? We used make like Man From Uncle with that, CO
 
Dead on the money OSGOOD spring activated and hefty. The name on the side is MARX.
 
Did you uncover this? I have an original 1911 9x19 Luger, in the original holster and sequential numbered aluminum magazines. That is a great firing gun!!
