This is a very sad time. Plaz Conner RIP

DOC

New member
Plaz Conner, was a very good friend of mine and hunting partner, and a poster to this forum. I don't think Plaz had even reached his 40's yet, he was in his thirties.

I received this email from his wife Julie, this morning. Please send your thoughts and your prayers. I will get Plaz abd Julie's address later and post it.

-----------
I apologize ahead of time to be sending you this information in an impersonal e-mail. Plaz had so many aquaintances in all the different aspects of his life. I am trying to get the word out to as many of you as I can.

If you havent already heard or figured out by now, Plaz passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly Saturday morning May 13th. He was doing what he loved, riding his Dirt bike. Unfortunately, we have no answers yet as to how he died. What we do know is that he did not crash his bike. The people he was racing with said he started riding in an odd manner, made his way to the side of the track and slumped over off of his bike. The EMTs and I got to him within minutes of this. Despite their efforts he died shortly there after. I hope I will have some answers soon as to why my healthy young husband died. I have been told that this may take weeks as they wait for test results.

For those of you that would be interested, his funeral arrangements are as follows: Visitation Friday 5-7pm, Sat. 10-10:45am with the funeral following at 11:00. This will take place at Palm Mortuary 7400 W. Cheyenne.

As you can imagine this is a difficult time for me, his family and his friends. Your thoughts and prayers are very much felt and appreciated. Please feel free to pass this on to anyone else you can think of who knew Plaz and would want to know that he is gone.

Thank you

Julie Conner

DOC,
This is sad news.
I hope you will post an address where we can send
our thoughts and see if Julie needs any help.

May God Bless you Plaz and accept you into His heavenly fields of gold where you may be happy for eternity. I will think of you with fond memories!

I will also kick myself when I think of every time you asked me to go prospecting with you, and I was "too busy" to get away.

Thats a sad thing DOC, Pondmn, Jerry petes that posts on the forum, lost his Mother-in-law about a week ago, You haven't been posting much on the forums, I just asked ROB the other day, if you were sick. My condolences to his family and YOU post something once in awhile, so people know your ok! I thought maybe you had trouble with your recent surg. Grubstake

I appreciate the concern, but I have never been better. I have just been very busy, my son just graduated from Dental School. I have been trying to get the solar panels fixed on the roof to heat up the pool.

GOSH - Mohave John Green called my sister all concerned and asked if I was OK, because I had lost so much weight!

DANG, it took me a lot of time and a lot of hardf work, and a lot of sacrafice to lose that weight, and now people think I'm sick!

January 2nd, I made a resolution to lose 25 pounds. I take BP medication and Cholesterol meds, and to be real honest I am sick of taking both. Especially the BP meds because they make me dizzy when I bend over and then come up too fast. NOT good when you are digging a target and then get up off of your knees and feel like you are going to fall in the hole.

SO, I know my blood pressure goes down when I carry less weight, so I just started a very slow methodical lifestyle change. No bread, no butter, limited amount of meat, lots of vegetables, no eating between meals, no second helpings, and quit drinking regular Pepsi.

Then I bought a tread mill and started working out on that. Slowly but surely the pounds just started to drop off, 1 to 3 pounds a week. I have never felt better.

I am only 5'7" and I weighed 180, now I am down to 159. I feel great, I don't have anymore back aches, my suits and pants fit me, I don't get winded, and my blood pressure is down to 118 over 69.

Without meds it was 158 over 98. With meds before I lost the weight it WAS 142 / 82.

So all is well here, Gus and I have been busy trying to organize stock and clean this pit of a store up. We have so much inventory, we just don't have very good organization yet.

Thanks everyone for your concern! But I'm now a lean mean gold finding machine. OK, at least I'm LEAN ! AND my shoulder is about 98%.

Take care!

Well i'm glad you are doing so well DOc, I'm 5'10 1/2" and i weigh 197, I take 17 different meds for blood pressure and heart, Not doing so well, but maintaining. 5 heart attacks sure take the wind out of your sails. But at least metaldetecting has been good for me, I just want to go more than my body will let me. You only live once, I'm doing it on my terms. Grubstake

From Docs post Plaz was still not yet 40. You would have to feel he has had 40 years stolen from him.
It is even harder for his wife and family who will have to cope with the sudden grief and what that brings for some time.
My condolences and thoughts go out to them.

It appears he went out with a "bang" doing what he liked. That would be some comfort at least.

The great Scottish comedian, Billy Connelly summed up losing weight and obesity brilliantly.

"Move more and eat less".

There can be no better advice!

Guys, here is Plaz and Julie's address.

If you can spare a $20, and slip it in a card, I know it would be appreciated. Plaz was born in 1969, and I know he was too young to have even thought about life insurance or having done the pre-need funeral arrangement thing. It costs about $10,000 to lay someone to rest these days. What young strong, seemingly healthy 41 year old thinks of things like that? A month ago Plaz was talking to me about thoughts of starting a family, and wanted to know if I thought he was too old.

I told him I am 57 and my daughter is 16, so I told him to GO FOR IT!

If you can't afford a couple of dollars, then please send Julie a letter or a card, and tell her about Plaz. This was a great fun loving guy. I remember when I had my hernia surgery and I had a shipment coming from COILTEK. Plaz said "don't worry DOC, I'll take my pickup truck and go get it!" Which he did! Then he brought it to the ofice and unloaded it. I tried to pay him for it, but of course he refused. So I found out what kind of coil he didn't have and gave him a new coil, and told him I wouldn't take no for an answer!

Julie is left all alone, with just memories. I spoke to her tonight, and she is totally in shock. I can tell the way she talked that she is in denial, she doesn't even realize the full impact of what has happened.

Pray for Plaz, Julie, and their families. Death is never an easy thing to deal with, but when it happens to someone so young, and so unexpectedly, I think it is especially hard.

Take care!
