Like I said in my last post, the road between Emmett and Boise is the most dangerous road in Idaho. There are constant accidents and fatalities on this road and the State is trying to improve the road and driving conditions to make it safer, but then there are folks like this morning. We were driving to work in a dense fog. I do NOT drive faster than I can see ahead and stop if the fog has "Bumps" in it. Most other idiots on the road just drive between 65-70 and hope for the best. I was driving at 45 mph and visibility was about 150 feet. Cars were building up on my bumper and trying to make me go faster by tailgating me. I do not play that game. I went over a hill and down the other side and in the fog I saw a dark shape.I braked and as the dark shape materialized here was the dumbest @#$#$$## I have ever seen pulling a u-turn, on a busy, dangerous, high speed road, in the fog, on a hill, in the dark, pulling a trailer, on a double yellow line! I could make out high-speed headlights coming from ahead and bearing down on ths idiot and the dumbells tailgating me were braking to miss me as I was braking and looking for a place to get around the whole mess before the the morning commute turned into a ball of death. The driver of the moronmobile was stomping on the gas which made me a little hole behind the trailer to squeeze through and I made it past. The guys behind me followed me through the hole and we noticed the on coming lane traffic was getting stopped before they hit Mr. Imbecile. No one was hit or hurt, but, the tailgaters behind me dropped way back and started driving like their lives depended on it. Now for the best,or worst, part of this. The van was a Highway Department van pulling a trailer with a porta-potty on it for the 9 convicts on work realease riding in the van. They were going to spend the day picking up trash along the highway. They almost had a life sentence thanks to the sheer boneheadedness of the State officer driving the van.
When I found a place to stop, I made a call to my best friend who works for the Ada County sheriff's department. I told him the story and he gave me the number of an investigator who handled this kind of thing. We had a nice talk about the incident, ahem, and he already knew the drivers name that had checked out the prisoners that morning for work detail. He assured me that this was not to be tolerated and the driver would be dealt with. My friend also told me he would follow up on the case and let me know what happend with the driver. Maybe I should take up tap dancing in a mine field or some other line of work that is safer! DC
