This mornings hunt! :fisher:

Had a short window this morning for an early morning hunt, so headed off to a spot a number of us have hunted a number of times over the years. The last couple of outings Chris and I had put in on the spot we found it to be slm pickings. Although I had my camera with me this morning, I found they don't work to well with the battery still in the charger and not the camera. :surprised:

Anyway, I decided to swing over the toughest of the spots terrain, a stretch with a lot of gravel along a paved road, thinking most of us had always shied away from it as is very tough digging. My first good target was the toasted Buffalo nickel. I think I can see a 26, but I won't take that number to the bank. A little while later I got a faint signal down near the bottom of the gravel incline that was staying in the 77-79 range reading. From between 7-8" I unearthed the well worn and battle scarred 1909 Barber dime. Just near the end of the hunt from the gravel I recovered the I H cent which turned out to be a 1890. Although it is also toasted.

In doing a silver recount for the year last night I discovered the last silver coin I dug yesterday, the 40 Merc. was my 50th silver coin for the year. So, I am now at 51. I wish that was my age, too. LOL I still had on the 5 x 10 DD coil. HH jim tn

Man your really on a roll. No wonder you can afford to buy pancakes for Mud:laugh:-------------------Thanks for sharing------------IB

The silver has all but dried up here in wv , this year I've only found one silver dime. Last year we had a hot spot that we made radioactive we've hunted it so much , we got about 25_silver coins from there. Site location hunting is our problem plus everybody knows people here in wv nobody has any money. Any tips on site location would be helpful.

Great silver count for the Spring! You are right on pace for a very decent year once again!

Like mud says..................... Your right on pace for a great silver year and other finds..

Way ot go Jim! It's funny about that place - sometimes it really gives up the goods but no matter what you will dig your share of trash in the meantime! I found my first Barber coin ever at the same place after a 2-day long stretch of rain...damp ground makes a BIG difference out there!

Good hunt Jim. You are on a fantastic silver streak. From the sounds of it, you can run circles around guys half your age. It is just a number Jim. Detecting keeps us young and you are evidence of that. A person that does not metal detect can not comprehend the amount of exercise one receives in this hobby UNTIL they are actually performing the movements. Basically a whole body exercise and then some. Even umm catching butterflies with a sand scoop would be a phenomenal exercise event  Forget the coins, we will all come down to your location with sand scoops and we will see who comes out on top as master butterfly lepidopterist. :poke:
