This mornings hunt :twodetecting: F75 w/DST

Today was one of those days for my buddy and I that would make Zeekeys and Mud proud. We were clad digging fools for 4 1/2 hours this morning. My buddy got 98 clad and cents including 8 wheat cents and I got 105 coins in total including 1 1919 wheat cent.

Along the way, however, I did manage to get my coil over 2 925 marked silver rings. That makes 3 silver rings I have pulled from this site in the last two hunts.

Somewhat dismaying, however, is between us we have dug 19 or 20 wheat backs from the spot and yet not one silver coin. The last outing we got 8 between us and since most were in the 6-7 inch depth range, we decided this morning to switch from the 5" coil to the 5 x 10 thinking that maybe a little more depth would help with coming up with a silver coin or two. We did dig a few deeper coins, but none being silver.

The bigger of the two rings weighed in at 11.6 grams and the smaller at 3.3.

Oh, I showed the brass window latch as it was in the same hole as my 1 wheat cent. The latch probably aided in my getting the 1 wheat I did. We both were swinging the same detectors. Hope all have a great weekend. HH jim tn

If there is that many wheaties, there has to be some more silver in that area, good idea about trying to get a little more depth that should get some silver.Nice finds, Mud and Zee would be proud of you.

Congrats on the great hunt!!!! 100 coin each is great....regardless if there wasn't any silver mixed in.

BTW - what was the VDI# of the 2 silver rings that you hit?

The coil you switched to, was it the Fisher 5x10 - just asking since there seems to be many of us in the market for a smaller coil.

thanks,
rob

Nice hunt jim!! I once found 23 weats in an area I hunted three different times. The fourth trip out scored me a 40's silver quarter at the same depth as the wheats!! Hard to cover every square inch lol! hh rick in mi

We have worked the spot three different times. Just got in from the third hunt, today. Between us we got over 150 clad and cents today and I managed 5 wheat cents. All in all we have amassed well over 450 coins from the spot and 25 or 26 wheat cents.........and out of all of that, not 1 silver coin. I will admit to being totally befuddled as to why those numbers of wheat cents and not one silver coin?

rob, the 5 x 10 dd is a Fisher coil and I am very fond of it. I have recovered 3 silver rings from this spot. The first weighed 14.7 grams and locked on 90/91. The next was a small 3.3 grams and was a lock on 80 reading. The 3rd weighed 11.6 grams and read 87/88.

Rick, although the wheats have been somewhat scattered through out the spot, one area has produced the most. 3 of my 5 today came from that area, so it is not yet gleaned dry. Houses sat on the site and we can tell ground has been moved. Clad, Memorials and wheats have been dug from a inch down to 8-9 inches and it just seems some silver should have showed up. Anyway, we are going to give it a rest and check out another spot tomorrow if we don't get rained out. HH jim tn
