any of you guys step up to the next model and regretted it???? ..... or..was it a hugh improvement.... Even tho I found more silver and wheats this season by going over the same areas I've hunted with the old explorer... but I'm not a fan of the limited # id on the safari... The smart find screen works with me a whole bunch better..

Anybody else move up??

I went the other direction and traded my Etrac for a Safari. It is so easy to setup, store and recall programs on the Safari.

However, the Etrac did have some features that I wish were on the Safari:
- Wider range of target ID numbers
- displays the sensitivity when in auto
- backlighting

The one thing I think I would want on the Safari or Quattro from the Explorer would be the Iron Mask option. I have this feature on my Sovereign XS and it help me find coins in iron, but it is always on and cannot be adjusted to different different levels, and I am sure that I missed some coins that were totally masked out by the iron. That would be an awesome feature for the Safari 2 if Minelab ever decide to come out with a upgrade.

Sold my Safari for an SE Pro. I would not call it a dramatic difference but there was marked improvement. Especially if you are hunting of coins and jewelry. Relics not so much of a difference. I can say that there are allot more options for setup which frustrated the crap out of me at first. The safari straight out of the box had a much higher success rate but now 3 months later I really like My SE. Overall if I could do it over I would keep both. But if I was force to go with one... the SE. That being said if any of you Safari guys are looking to sell a gently used unit. I would be interested in one for my father. PM me with price. It MUST be in very good condition!!!
