Thought I had a honey hole -

Saw an older school this morning that had the front yard all dug up this week, putting a few plants in and rearranging the surface. Lots of mountains of soil & such. After some time I had dug a few current coins then a Jeff nickel turns up that's 1957. I thought great ! some older possibilities here. But that was about it.
Any of you ever do dirt piles and such ? Steve in so az

congrats Steve on the '57. Can't say I have done piles but worth a shot. I see bulldoozing going on in an area near the hotel but can't detect until my knee is fixed.

Hi Steve! Your post reminds me of the time the Park Rangers were cleaning out the muck and mire from a lake, I guess, and had it piled in a deep pile on another section of the park! My friend Ginny had been there and went around the edges hunting for old bottles with a probe and found some! I thought maybe there could be some old coins, so wearing golushes I tried walking on the top of this big heap of mud and dirt, and being it was still drying, I got into the middle and my golushes got sucked down into the mire and I had to just get out of them and walk back to safety with only my socks on! Ginny later helped me to get my golushes by pulling them out and then believe me I never got on that big pile any more! It was a scary situation like quick sand and even sadder I didn't find any bottles or coins! Praise God that I didn't sink down and disappear or I probably wouldn't be able to type now! God Bless! yep I feel ur pain, this summer my buddy and I pulled up to a 100+ yr old park and they were cutting paths 6" deep all thru the park to make paths. I had visions of indians, barbers, seated etc.....just an inch down in those paths, but all we found were dig holes everywhere were someone the day before beat us to it!
