Thoughts from those who have the Deus 2 9.5 HF coil

I'm thinking about getting the 9" HF coil for the Deus 2, but have some reservations. Will it be worth the upgrade to someone like me?

I don't hunt deep old coils anymore, just mainly tot lots and schools for jewelry. Fun is my number one objective. I know the higher frequencies can be helpful on the small shiny gold, but by $400 worth? I also like the oval coils in tot lots to get closer to the toys. But again, $400 worth?

For those who are using the D2 HF coil, what are your thoughts?

Thanks

I have one and it is deadly in tot lots and just about everywhere else. Had a 4 hour hunt today in a park that has been hammered. I got tired of digging non ferrous targets. The target is is a new language but I’ll get it. No regrets on my end. Kenny

It’s a $400 coil that is actually the detector. The remote and WS6 are just controllers. If It was just a coil with no circuit boards, batteries or other tech, I agree it would not be feasible at $400.

I can absolutely guarantee you Woodbutcher that the HF2 coil running at 89 kHz max multi frequency will find things that the 9” FMF coil running at 40 kHz max multi frequency will miss. Been there and already found that out. Now, whether somebody that is a tot lot hunter can see the same difference…..maybe.

I wouldn’t pass up a $20 bill if it was laying on the ground. That’s what a 0.3 gram 14K stud earring back is worth right now in melt value. The HF2 coil at 53 or 89 max multi frequency will hit that target all day every day. The 9” coil…..maybe.

I have used mine for gold prospecting and relic hunting in Western USA ghost towns where there are square nails all over the ground and under the surface. 53 to 89 kHz max multi frequency along with some of the audio choice improvements and high mineralization ground handling improvements in the latest Beta versions have made a big difference for me. Basically I don’t need the 9” coil anymore. The HF2 and my 11” coil are all I need.

I saw your reply over on Friendly. At the moment USA shipments are on hold until the tariff situation for France and the EU is solidified. Price has already gone up 10% on some US dealer pre-order websites. XP is a small company and they can't eat the entire 15% tariff.

So far like I and another poster have said, the coil is worth the money especially in my situation where I no longer need my 9" coil and will sell it to make up some of the HF2 cost.

Is this new coil as accurate on TID (coins) as the 9" coil?
It is for me as long as I don't do something stupid and try to do a selective digging coin hunt with max frequency on 53 or 89 kHz. 29 kHz has worked really well for me on USA coins and larger jewelry. Micro jewelry hunting, I am switching to 53 or 89 kHz. As far as I can tell, target IDs using the HF2 coil and Beta 3 software are NOT normalized so the higher the max frequency the more skewed the coin IDs could be depending on depth and ground conditions.

XP released V3.1 software today 7/30/25 for Deus 2.

V3.1 is available for download on their website with complete change log information.

V3.1 is official public software instead of beta software.

Too bad I didn’t wait, I updated to 3.08 two days ago. Thanks for the heads up

3.08 was the final beta version and XP was just double checking 5 days for possible bug reports. I guess they didn’t get any. I’m keeping mine on Beta 3.08 for a week for the same reason in case there are bugs in V3.1. They are basically the same unless you have the X-trem hunter.
