It's not always about depth sometimes its finding.... it next to a pot belly stove.....or 3 -4 inches deeper than a e-trac will read......next to claw foot of the tubby...go figure banjo man....you just got to know... at least I do not bash any detector....I put my time in the field where it counts......And yes I am proficient with a vast armada from Red Heat - LTD.... Like a wizened sorcerer I bend the wand to my Will....

I work the secound oldest continually habitated city in the USA every 3 -10 years a hurricane blows it all down (300 years)....we just stomp it down and build again......the foreshore would be the only thing that comes close....

I will agree there are fine machines out.....How many hours do you have on an LTD.....either one will do in a Pinch...A year ago I may have agreed with you .....But I have and you will be ...2 rudely awakened.....To what the LTD can and will do ....in the hands of a seasoned operator......No bend in the pants.....Focus.....bring your will to bear ....only rubbish i know of... I kick with my Shovel......you just think you know what heavy Iron IS.... Cheers

Max depth both units equal in my test......I like the BP audio mode options of the F75LTD.....but love the simplicity of the T2 LTD and the expanded iron range in One tone.....starts to trump into red heat territory...Iron see through....or Iron Unmasking of desirable targets...I can make it happen with either unit.....I know this IS not the answer you want 2 hear.... but its the way i see it

still don't understand why so many seem to think that the expanded iron range is so good in 1 tone. it would seem that it would be better with the low tone for iron and higher tone for others instead of the same tone for everything. thanks.

AS you lower from 20 in one tone you allow more target s to average out of the iron range into the foil and higher

A (small cuff button) + (2 inch cut nail) = foil ( remember ground can add into this equation and in best circumstances such as mine be neutral)

A 3 inch cut nail and seated dime = high foil or nickel or if you are lucky pulltab

you will dig big Iron as you unmask more targets under the nail mask = Prince Albert can full of old silver coins

So as you Use lower disc you should be aware that higher sensitivity Makes Iron look bigger than it is.... distorts the audio and meter circuits....Finding the sweet spot on The LTD is where the meter is accurate and the sound has a full language... not brash

AS the site gets dug out .....you increase the sensitivity and keep lowering the discrimination until you are running 10-12 and can call your target ferrous or non ferrous just by the roundness and clarity of the target where as brass and copper will sound sweet and round .....silver will whisper and be angelic....these discrepancies are known By those who have mastered his unit....and willing and prepared to take a good old site to the next level....

remember some targets will bleed through only one way.....and some times in only one direction such as over target.. but not back over.... or over and back over....but pop and crack at 90 degree sweeps of the original sweep or in the performance of the "sign of the cross" over targets where you receive good reports every sweep direction....which is what most lazy detectorist look for and short change them self's..... any way 30 years of getting the leg up on the competition.... in A friendly way.... yes the techniques can BE applied to most machines.......but becomes more viable the faster the recovery speed or averaging speed of the unit in hand......And by all means practice in the right place.....muddy fields loaded with black glass and Iron or deep woods Iron camp sites or a beach with a ballast pile......Not in Tootsie park across from the police station....
2f puts all targets below 20 or so in low tone and some averages as well ....BUT IN THIS MODE IF YOU ARE AWAKE AT THE WHEEL you will start to hear irregularities and will Be GOB Smacked by the repercussions=====Finds........

Sorry Chuck.... did not mean.... to make this so long,,,, it truly is hard to put into words what becomes second vision after swinging the old girl for a bit or 2
hope this helps in your own testing...

"In a nut shell" ... had not read the Teknetics forum before tonight. The terrific and applicable information in the above thread, and several others I've just come across, will have me back here reading and learning more. I've played a little with 2f with the F75 ltd and found it very interesting. Am now encouraged to spend even more time with 2f.
