Threshold question on 505

On my Tesoro's threshold only came into play in all metal mode, discrimination was always "silent search", I have looked through diggers book a few times but see no mention of it being needed in just all metal?, I will play with it today but this is foreign to me to hunt in discrimination with a "slight hum" going on, Again I am new to the X-Terra so bare with me on these dumb questions, thank you.

When you are in Discimination mode and when you go over iron you get a Null but when you are in All metal you get a tone for every piece of metal you swing your coil over. I hope that helps.

There is however a break in the threshold tone in AM when a target is reported. The difference between that and the blank spot in DISC, is mostly the target tone being there.

It gets silent only when you hit a target that it has discriminated out by you from notches. Otherwise you hear the threshold hum unless if you turn it off at all. Tesoro and x terra probably are deferent.
