any one found a way of making the explorer work on the edge of its threshold like the SOV in all metal? i find theres no gradual increase in sounds its response is all or nothing and i know it picks up metals before the audio starts as the sig meter starts to show weak sigs before any sounds are heard?

Rob, If I am understanding your question correctly I don't think there is any way to fine tune the threshold. People have expressed in the past their concern with the threshold volume level. It is either too loud or gone.

I posted about the same thing a few months ago
and someone said you did not need a threshold.
The unit would work fine as long as it wasn't falsing alot.Has anyones feelings on this changed?
I've been running max without falsing but without a threshold. Is this wrong?Am I possibly missing targets? Thanks for your response.

yes I think you might miss some very deep targets, but the main thing is the threshold alerts you to ground conditions..when it nulls its telling you to slow down, without it you wouldnt know if you were in an iron field <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)"> too bad the lowest volume adjustment does seem to be a bit too loud though..but then again you can turn down your headphones a hair...Jim
