Thunder coil results

I hit this yard several times with the f75ltd2 stock coil as well as with a deus 11 coil a few times.Dont know how I missed these with those machines.But the ring is dated and initials from 1967,8 grams of 14 k..
The tornado I ran in boost mode the whole time and went slow.It will cover a lot of ground even going slow,and it's very deep.When I say deep,I mean 8 to 9 inch targets are solid hits,not choppy like with the stock coil.Weight is a little more than stock but not bad at all.I like it,I wouldn't make it my main coil but when I need to cover ground ,big yards it'll be my go to coil.That ring and nickels were a good 7 inches deep and the audio was rich,and nice.For lower conductors the thunder hits hard.
The merc and wheats were all 7 or better inches deep,and also hit hard.No mistaking a coin.
No emi issues,very quiet.I would not hesitate to recommend this coil,but it is expensive at $190

Nel makes the thunder coil.10.5x14.5 inches..I may have located the owner of the ring,if she's still alive.I talked to a older lady next to the house I found the ring at,and she gave me the name and even said she can remember the lady losing this ring a long time ago.I hope she's alive,I'd like to give it back.

Update...Both husband and wife passes away years ago,they were pretty old.I did find and talk to the nephew who is from town..Nothing wrong with drinking beer all day,but that's what he does and honestly I felt no reason to offer him the ring because he'd just sell it for booze money.And technically it doesn't belong to him..I'd have really liked to return it to the owner or they're kids but unfortunately that's not gonna happen.I guess I'm 8 grams of 14 k richer.lol

What is your experience with pin pointing with your thunder?

I just got mine for my f70 today, and in a cross pattern to narrow down the sweet spot I'm getting the lowest target depth in two different spots. As if the target is 3 inches deep it doesn't come in at the same spot on the coil when I go North-south, then east-west. The two spots I find that 3" depth are a few inches away from each other.

For the sake of playing Devils Advocate, the NEL sharp shooter I have is dead center under the shaft pivot for me.

Funny you mention that Trailduster. When I had mine I had a hard time pinpointing with it because the area of sensitivity is so unequal from end to end. It wasn't sensitive at all right in the middle and very sensitive at both ends. This was very easy to test when depositing a target on a patch of clear ground. I had to dig much bigger plugs than usual to be sure to get at the target the first time. Could it just be a matter of coil size ? My Detech 5 X 10 SEF is like your sharpshooter, targets are right between the coil ears under the shaft all the time but no so accurate with my Detech Ultimate.

I have a thunder coil for my F70 also and have no problems pinpointing doing the N/S-E/W cross pattern. It pinpoints right in the middle of the coil just like my NEL hunter coil.

I'll say this about pinpointing,I'm really good with a dd coil,and pulling it back till the signal drops,it's always in front of the coil...the thunder does not pinpoint right,sure I got used to it,but I lose the signal while pinpointing and have to do the wiggle,then pinpoint again..this has happened to me several times already.

Using it yesterday I definitely got the pin pointing down. Now that I know where on the coil the target is it's acutally better at PP than the stock 11"dd. Been using that forever and still cant ever get the target exactly in the plug where I get a matching depth number NS/EW.

This Thunder puts the target right between the 11 north of the base pivot and the target is pretty much true to my markout.
