TI D's

I see in Randy's book on the TID's. charts that my TID's are not reading what is stated ,I'm using the 10.5" 7.5KHZ.DD coil.My TID'S are reading about two points higher,Silver dimes 42 copper Penny's 38-40
clad dimes 40 silver quarters 44, Clad quarters 42. But I also read that the change in the coils will change the TID'S. Is this the result of the coil change or an improper setting?
The 705 is running smooth and I'm locating good targets.
Not a big deal just wondering.

Could be the DD coil, the charts are based on the concentric coil. Also, do they change a little if you alter the distance on your air test?

Frequency selected, target depth, target size, soil makeup, ground moisture (or lack thereof), will all play a role in TID accuracy.

Being off by one target segment is not at all unusual, especially on high conductors when an HF coil is in use. Check out page 82 in Randy's book.

I hear ya! I have noticed the exact same thing. Randy suggested in an earlier post that it might be a factor of moisture in the ground. Yesterday, I had a very clear but deep 42-44 signal that I was sure was a quarter but it turned out to be a memorial six inches deep.

I've found a combination of what everyone's said above to be true. Ground balance, ground moisture content and the coil all seem to made a difference in TID. I really think moisture is the biggest thing that changes my readings. Luckily they are not leaps and bounds away from a typical reading but I would say that pennies are the targets that vary the most. If my memory serves me correctly, pennies usually increase in TID when ground moisture increases.

I used the consentric coil and found the numbers are lower at times than the DD coil , a

I have learned a bit on the TID's the last week or so,from one site to another I never seen a silver coin of any kind come up a 36 till I just found my second seated dime,Clad quarts always come up a 42 no matter
what site I'm at, Pennies seem to vary the most from site to site,So I just started to make mental notes on the TIDs at the site I'm hunting.I'm trying to train myself to hunt by ear but look at TID's to see and guess what the target might be.By reading the post here and referring to Randy's book and following the advice I'm getting from here it is all starting to click and it's all coming together now.If only I can learned to find gold items now I have found a watch back and a union 20 year pin both were gold plated but I think it hit on the base metal and not the gold. For those who have found gold rings or coins ,Using the 10.5" 7.5KHZ DD coil does it give a clean TID if there is no adjacent targets or does gold give a choppy are bouncy signal?
I have air tested my girl friends ring but it has a mounting on it the signal from it is very bouncy and broken a target I would most likely not dig on.

Again, the TID program is written for coin sized/shaped targets. So when it comes to jewelry, the more different angled reflective surfaces that it has, or the more irregular the shape is, the jumpier the TID's will be.
